This past Monday, I was at the Piermont Pier, not only to view the “Super Crane”, which was a sight unto itself, but to take the opportunity to speak to Governor Cuomo on behalf of the residents of South Nyack. I was not only able to shake his hand, but got his attention by stating that, “South Nyack has a plan to leverage the bridge project for further economic development and job creation by reclaiming interchange 10 and would appreciate your support in this endeavor”. On Tuesday, I followed up with a letter. Again, whether or not a response is received, we need to keep our village in the spotlight as South Nyack is the most affected by the New NY Bridge Project.
This past week, I also met with Calherbe Monel, Director of Economic Development for Rockland County who is also supportive of our feasibility study for economic development in South Nyack.
Construction will continue on the Rockland trestle near the shoreline. This will include pile driving, sheet pile driving and coffer dam installation. The project’s Environmental Compliance Team is taking measures to ensure that the construction noise is within allowable levels. If at any time you experience excessively disruptive noise, please call the hotline: 855-TZBRIDGE (855-892-7434).
I have spoken with Aimee Vargas, Mid-Hudson Regional Director for the Empire State Development Corp, who has assured me that engineers are still evaluating the various concepts for the shared use path landing, submitted by our residents. Hopefully this process will be completed soon and we can have our long overdue community meeting on this subject.
Enjoy the holiday weekend,
