Dear Residents,
The Board joins me in wishing everyone a “Happy Summer”. Below are a few Village updates that we want to share with you.
The Village has received a $42,000 grant from the New NY Bridge’s Community Benefits Program which will be used to implement a paid parking program and will fund the cost of a parking consultant to assist the Village in setting up this program. With the scheduled 2019 opening of the new Shared Use Path and the anticipated visitors it will bring, our parking concerns need to be addressed now. The Village will be going out to bid shortly to find a consultant who can assist us with this process.
You may recall that we had received a grant for $163,200 from the New NY Bridge’s Waterfront Revitalization Program which will be used to refurbish the Franklin Street Park tennis court and to purchase and install a canopy that will cover the children’s playground. The structure that is being considered offers the most shade protection and will allow our Department of Public Works to remove it during the winter months. You can find a picture of this shade structure on the home page of our website under the NEWS headline: http://173.236.34.242/~southnyackny

Our summer concert series begins
Sunday evening, July 29th
in the Franklin Street Park.
These concerts are weather permitting
(check our website if the weather is in question). Mark your calendars with the performance dates below:
Sunday, July 29th – 6:30pm – Catahoula Cajun Band plays dance music of Southern Louisiana. With the fiddle, triangle and the accordion, this music became known as “French”, but is truly a fusion of French, American and Country with influences from African rhythms, Creole and blues adding their own spice to the mixture.
Sunday, August 26th – 6:30pm – Blarney Stew performing a stout broth of jigs, reels and other traditional Celtic Tunes spiced by modern hits of the Pogues and Waterboys along with some Classic Rock
& Country Covers. Great vocals and electric energy make this band a must hear!
Sunday, September 30th – 6:30pm – Tequila Soul Project delivering an energetic & contemporary mix of blues, R+B, soul, & funk.
Wishing you a fun and safe summer and looking forward to seeing you at the concerts in the park.
Bonnie Christian
