Tuesday, January 10th at 7:30 p.m. will be the next South Nyack Board of Trustees Meeting. Ample time will be dedicated during our open comment session to address residents’ questions regarding the future New NY Bridge Shared Use Path and the anticipated pedestrian and bicycle traffic it will bring to our Village. Members of the South Nyack Task Force will be present to answer questions.
Last night, Trustee Andrew Goodwillie, the Task Force and I met with State officials and the Thruway team. Both State and NYS Thruway representatives were firm in stating that they could not implement any changes to the current plans that would require a new Environmental Assessment review. Our records show that it took approximately 8 months to complete the current assessment review. State and Thruway officials will however, review residents’ concerns and see what modifications can be made.
After nearly five years and more than 50 meetings with NY State and the NYS Thruway Authority representatives, local public meetings, numerous village-wide mailings and a great deal of feedback and comments from our residents, Concept F was approved.
The Mayor’s Update was launched in March of 2013, and we now have over 800 email addresses that receive our updates about the new bridge and Shared Use Path as well as other village news. You can refer to our website, http://southnyack.ny.gov, for news, meeting dates and the video recordings and minutes of past meetings. I remind you that the Board of Trustees meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. I encourage you to attend.
