Mayor’s Update – February 3, 2016

As some residents may have noticed, there have been arborists in our Village affiliated with Tappan Zee Constructors. Each month they inspect trees that are close to the project right-of-way where the Tappan Zee Constructors are excavating. These arborists check the health and condition of these trees as construction progresses.

I have asked Carla Julian, Community Outreach/Diversity Manager for Tappan Zee Constructors, to let me know in advance when the arborists will be going out to inspect. In any case they should not be on private property and if for some reason they need access to a particular property they will alert Carla in advance so that the homeowner’s permission can be requested.

On a recycling note, please remember that recyclables, including shredded paper, cannot be placed in a plastic bag (even a clear one). The recycling facility does not accept items in plastic bags and our carting company will no longer collect any recyclables that have been placed in plastic bags. Shredded paper can be put in a brown paper grocery bag and placed in or near the blue recycle bin for pick up.

Although our recycling facility cannot accept plastic bags, it is important that they are recycled. Many local grocery stores have collection bins for this purpose. Please take your bags there for recycling. Thank you.
