I wanted to update all South Nyack residents on the continuing progress being made with the Governor’s office and the Thruway Authority regarding the New NY Bridge shared-use path for bikes and pedestrians. As you are aware, your voices have been heard and the Thruway has decided to relocate the end of the path away from the corner of Cornelison and South Broadway. Members of our Tappan Zee Bridge Task Force and I continue to work with New NY Bridge project engineers and have identified several concepts for moving the SUP terminus and parking into interchange 10. Over the summer the Thruway Authority project engineers are going to study the feasibility of these concepts, as well as their potential traffic and environmental impacts. Once those studies are complete we will have public meetings to present the plans to the village before any final decisions are made. We remain engaged with the Thruway and the Governor’s team and thank them for their willingness to partner with us on finding solutions that work for the village and future users of the path.
