The Thruway Authority is trying to force South Nyack to choose among unacceptable, and poorly thought out plans for the new Tappan Zee Bridge’s bicycle/pedestrian path.
At a public meeting last March, South Nyack residents clearly rejected a concept to end the path at Cornelison Avenue. With the backing of South Nyack residents, the Mayor and the Board of Trustees strongly asserted that the new path must terminate at Exit 10 in a way that allows the Village to control and accommodate the crowds, traffic and parking that the new path will bring.
It is important that South Nyack residents join together to send a clear message to the Thruway. We ask that you send an email to them saying you do not support their plans and that you do support the Village’s efforts to develop a workable solution that benefits South Nyack. This must be South Nyack’s decision, not the Thruway Authority’s!
Here’s a suggestion:
“I am a South Nyack resident. I am opposed to the current proposals to locate the entrance to the New NY Bridge Shared Use Path at Cornelison Avenue and South Broadway. The Thruway Authority must continue to work with South Nyack to develop a workable solution that benefits South Nyack and surrounding communities.”
The proposals are posted on the New NY Bridge website:
Thruway has set a very short deadline of February 13 to receive comments!
