The Trustees Alain Leinbach, Tom Neff, Catherine McCue, Andrew Goodwillie and I wish you and your family a happy and healthy New Year!
As stated in a previous update, our neighbors in Nyack are considering a proposal for a condominium complex on the site of the former Pavion property on Cedar Hill Avenue which sits on the border with South Nyack. We have sent our comments and concerns to the Nyack Planning Board for their review. We have been advised that concerns of the residents of Nyack and South Nyack will be considered in deliberations. Our letter and the response from Walter Sevastian, Nyack’s Village Attorney can be found by clicking on following links:
Also, at https://www.dropbox.com/s/vzlxewtv2uz2z5s/NYACK%20PB_PAVION_%201-5-15.MP3?dl=0 is an audio of the January 5th Nyack Planning Board Meeting as it pertains to the Pavion project. Representing South Nyack at that meeting was Jerry Ilowite, Chairman of the South Nyack Planning Board, and Denise Weber-Mishkel, Deputy Village Clerk.
This week, Tappan Zee Bridge Task Force members, County Legislator Nancy Low-Hogan, and I met with Veronica Vanterpool, Executive Director of Tri-State Transportation Campaign. The Task Force and I have also met with Patricia Keegan, District Director for Congresswoman Nita Lowey. All agree that the western terminus of the Shared Use Path at Interchange 10 would truly be, as New York State has described it, the “Gateway to Rockland”.
Just a reminder that the Task Force and I are available for meetings in homes where neighbors can gather for conversation about these critical issues facing South Nyack. Please contact me at (945) 358-0287 to schedule a meeting.
Happy New Year,
Bonnie Christian
