CURBSIDE LEAF COLLECTION Curbside leaf collection will begin on Monday, October 19th through Friday, December 18th, weather permitting. Place loose leaves in the gutter in a wind-row for pick-up by the DPW vacuum. The leaves must be free of sticks, rocks & trash. It is the homeowners responsibility to inform their landscape contractor of Village requirements. Grass clippings & other yard debris should be put in bio-degradable bags & placed on the grass between the sidewalk & the curb. Be sure that the bags are free of sticks, rocks & garbage. PLASTIC BAG BAN The plastic bag ban originally went into effect on March 1, 2020. New York State Department of Environmental Conservation will begin enforcing the law and the regulations on Monday, October 19, 2020. As of October 19, 2020, any “person required to collect tax” must not distribute any plastic carryout bags to its customers unless such bags are exempt bags as provided for in the Bag Waste Reduction Law. For more information about this law click here. RECYCLING RULES Do not place plastic bags in recycle bins. Do not place recyclables in plastic bags. Plastic bags & film plastics must be recycled at local retailers that have a bin available for this purpose. Our recycle carter is not permitted to take any recyclables that contain plastic bags.
