Construction Updates & Upcoming Events

Dear Residents,

The Trustees and I wish to say thank you to those who attended our Community Meeting yesterday evening and we hope that you found it to be informative.

Below please find construction updates; as well as information regarding several important events:

Esposito Trail:

The section of the Esposito Trail from Clinton Avenue to Elizabeth Place Park is expected to re-open beginning this weekend. Intermittent closures may occur for activities such as paving the side path or the installation of fencing, but the Thruway Authority is working with its contractor to limit those and maintain access as much as possible.

SUP Side Spur behind Village Hall:

The side path retaining walls behind Village Hall are also progressing. The contractor will be wrapping up stone work on the lower portion of the retaining wall behind Village Hall by the end of the month. This means we will soon be getting some parking relief at Village Hall which will free up spaces on South Broadway and side streets for a few weeks.

Roadway Work:

Work continues at Hillside Avenue and Franklin Street Extension.  The good news there is that the turning radius for buses and larger vehicles has improved exponentially with the widening of the shoulder.

Drainage work near Hillside Avenue and Shadyside Avenue is underway. It is part of the construction of the new intersection at Route 9W that will provide access to the Thruway in both directions. The final roadway work in that area will continue for several months, and we appreciate everyone’s patience, particularly those folks (including myself) that need to use the detour.
