It was truly a pleasure to walk in The African- American Parade this past Saturday. The Grand Marshal was our own South Nyack resident, Cora Sergeant Wilder. The sun stayed out and there were many festivities following at Memorial Park.
This past week, I submitted the signed agreement between the Thruway and South Nyack in order to receive our $250,000.00 in grant money. During the upcoming week, I will find out where the RFP stands so we can get the bids out for our feasibility study.
It was also noted this week, that the New NY Bridge Team has determined that 57 private homes in Tarrytown, South Nyack, and Grand View will experience temporary construction noise in excess of the federal daytime interior noise standard of 51 decibels, and therefore will be eligible for up to $30,000.00 each to install new sound reducing windows and doors.
Our Deputy Mayor, Alain Leinbach has been working with Nancy Blake Weber, who is a board member on the Nyack Parks Conservancy to see if they would be interested in helping with fund raising for our Elizabeth Street Dog Park, as it is used by residents other than South Nyack. She seemed very receptive to the idea and Alain plans on attending their next Board meeting. In the meantime if you are a dog park user and would like to be part of the fund raising committee, please call Alain at 845-358-0287.
Our Communications Advisory Committee met this past week and will be giving us an update at our next Board Meeting, which will be held on Tuesday, May 13th at 7:30pm.
Once again, if you have any concerns, please feel free to contact me at 845-358-0287.
I hope everyone has a happy Mother’s Day,
PS: The Exit 10 ramp in South Nyack will be closed Monday, May 12 from 11 pm to 4 am as the Thruway will be doing electrical work at the interchange.
