What a thrill and an honor to be invited to see and hear President Obama speak in Tarrytown. No matter what your political preferences may be, meeting the President of the United States is a unique experience and for me, has to be one of the highlights of my life. I was one of the lucky ones who not only got to shake his hand, but also had the opportunity to recite two very important sentences related to our village: “South Nyack has a plan to leverage the bridge project for further economic development and job creation. I’d be pleased to brief your staff on it.” I know he paid attention to the words “economic development and job creation”. On Friday, I followed up with a letter to The White House. Whether or not a response is received, we need to keep our village in the spotlight as South Nyack is most affected by the New NY Bridge Project.
At the May 13th meeting of the Board of Trustees, members voted to reestablish the South Nyack Tree Advisory Committee, which will be chaired by Erik Simon. This committee will develop and implement a long term plan to enhance the public spaces within the Village with appropriate shade trees, ornamental trees, and/or various shrubs. This advisory committee will report to the Board of Trustees on a regular basis.
The Village has accepted a bid for the rest room facilities in the Franklin Street Park. Work on the project will start in the near future.
As always, I wish everyone a wonderful weekend,
Bonnie
