As stated in my last update, our top priority now has to be devising ways to mitigate the impact of the SUP landing at the corner of Cornelison and South Broadway. Both the Board of Trustees and the South Nyack Task Force welcome community input on this most important discussion. We need to be creative with our strategies and come up with solutions for parking.
If you have ideas, or would like to share information, members of the Board of Trustees, the Task Force, Special Assistant to the Governor, Brian Conybeare or I would be happy to meet with you. Gather a group of your neighbors and call the Village Hall at 845-358-0287 to schedule a meeting. Our overall goal is to have several ideas and design options to present to all residents by the next public meeting.
In response to questions concerning repairs needed to Gesner Park, damaged in Hurricane Sandy, please be aware that this is an ongoing process. While we have already received funds for the storm preparation and clean up, we are still waiting for additional funds for our park repairs. A complete rebuild of the park is needed including new footings to meet the FEMA mitigation funding requirements. Unfortunately, FEMA will only reimburse for the Park repairs that have not been done and therefore, we are forced to wait for the funding before beginning this project. The application has been submitted and we hope to receive funding shortly.
Following is a list of several grants we have applied for over the past few months. I am sure you will agree that we are making amazing progress.
