This past week the residents of South Nyack mourned the loss of Richard Ambrey. Mr. Ambrey served the village and its residents as Superintendent of the Department of Public Works throughout the 1970’s and 1980’s. A true master mechanic, his talents were also devoted to South Nyack’s own Orangetown Fire Co. No. 1 as Captain and as Engineer. After retiring, he remained a resident of the village and was a fantastic source of local history and anecdotes. His presence in the village will be sorely missed.
