The new restroom facility for the Franklin Street Park has arrived and will soon be ready for use during regular park hours. Purchased with Community Development Block Grant funds, this facility will be opened each day at 7:30 am and closed at dusk. The DPW will be responsible for its upkeep.
The Nyack Park Conservancy has announced the receipt of a generous gift from Jo and Peter Baer that helped complete the purchase of needed equipment for the Children’s Playground in Memorial Park. The Baers are former South Nyack residents and longtime supporters of our community. I extend my thanks for their generosity as Memorial Park is used and loved by residents of all the river villages.
This past Tuesday, noise consultant Brook Crossan presented his preliminary report to the Board of Trustees. He told the Board that he was limited in his ability to evaluate the Thruway’s noise monitoring because he did not receive the compliance plans and reports we had requested, nor access to the noise readings from the Thruway’s monitoring equipment. However, by using the information from the Village’s noise monitoring equipment, he was able to make some determinations. Mr. Crossan explained that there are two main issues. One is how far away the monitor is placed from the noisy activity. The second is how to present the noise measurement. For further information, a full summary can be found on our website www.southnyack.ny.gov under TZB Update.
Regarding the Shared Use Path and parking options, I have been informed by NYS Thruway officials that engineers continue to evaluate the various concepts submitted by our residents and other community stake holders. They are still planning a community meeting sometime this fall to share the concepts with village residents.
Enjoy the beautiful Fall weather!
