The New NY Bridge Team notified me on Thursday, July 10th that the Community Meeting, tentatively scheduled for the end of this month, will be postponed until the fall. We have been informed that the engineers with TZ Constructors need more time to fully develop the various concepts that were given to them by both residents and South Nyack TZ Bridge Task Force members. I am disappointed by TZ Constructors’ delay, however this new schedule may mean more residents can participate as some might not have been able to attend a summer meeting.
The South Nyack TZ Bridge Task Force is meeting twice this week to continue to address issues such as noise problems, terminus of the Shared Use Path and the Request For Proposal related to the development of Interchange 10. I appreciate that these volunteers, Greg Toolan, Nancy Willen, Richard Kohlhausen, Connie Coker and Jerry Ilowite continue to devote so much time to these issues.
As you may have noticed, three diseased and rotted trees had to be taken down by our DPW: two on Elysian Avenue and one on Maple Street. Our newly formed tree committee, chaired by Erik Simon will be looking into replacements for these trees. I invite you to contact the Village Hall at 358-0287 to report diseased or hazardous trees or to request wood from a tree that has been taken down for your use as firewood. The remnants will be delivered as is. Residents will be responsible for chopping the wood into manageable sized pieces.
I remain available to talk with you about any concerns you may have. Have a wonderful weekend.
